DVD - The Wolves and Tomorrow - a documentary on the wolf in Croatia
Back in 1894 the wolves were to be found all over Croatia. However, by the end of the twentieth century their populations have declined in number to the extent that endangered their survival. This fact prompted the wolf protection in Croatia in the middle of the 90s of the last century. Over the last few years the activities intensified owing to the wolf management and protection project implemented with the support of the European Commission. By the year 2005 an integrated system of the wolf protection and scientific research was established and the willingness of the population to keep the wolves permanently in their homeland increased markedly.

DVD - The Expelled Host - a documentary on the wolf in Croatia
Wolves have been a personification of evil for centuries. However, not at all times. Many hunting peoples called the wolves their brothers and the conflict relationship between humans and the wolves developed as late as the end of the Middle Ages. What is the co-existence of humans and the wolf in Croatia like at present? What do statistical data show and what different stakeholder groups? Humans are making every effort to live again in harmony with nature.

Attitudes of rural and urban public toward wolves in Croatia - Final report

This report presents descriptive analysis of the data collected during survey of public attitudes toward wolves and wolf management. The data were collected during the year 2003, 2004 and 2005. Some of the results are compared with results of a similar study conducted in 1999 by Bath and Majiæ (2000).
The report is organized into three larger parts. First, Introductory Part includes a section on history of wolf management in Croatia, which offers a background story to the reader for better understanding of the presented results. Following section concisely explains the theory of human dimensions research with a brief glance towards different kinds of issues human dimension research can address. Second part explains the methodology of research used in our study and finally the third part presents the results of the survey.

2006 Report on the Wolf Population Status in Croatia

The 2006 Report on the Wolf Population Status, just like last year's report, presents the data on the wolf's impact on human activities (primarily on livestock breeding), gives estimates of the wolf population size based on local experts' statements, provides data on mortality and briefly describes the population status in neighbouring countries.

2005 Report on the Wolf Population Status in Croatia

The 2005 Report on the Wolf Population Status in Croatia was prepared for the purpose of implementing the Wolf Management Plan. The report outlines the main features of the wolf's distribution area in Croatia (population, livestock breeding, presence of game), presents data on damage caused to livestock and wolf's impact on the game, gives estimates of the wolf population size according to local experts' statements, presents the wolf mortality data for 2005 and gives a brief description of the wolf population status in the neighbouring countries that share this population with Croatia (Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia).

Report on attitudes towards wolves in Croatia

At the start and upon completion of the project a public attitudes survey will be conducted concerning the wolf and the level of knowledge of this problem area. This survey will cover the inhabitants of the wolf distribution area and Zagreb as the major urban centre of Croatia. The results od these surveys represent one of the important basis for wolf management planning in Croatia. All information on results of the first survey carried out witnih the project are available in the preliminary report.
