During August 2009, Dr. Josip Kusak, assistant professor from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, conducted activities to capture and collar wolves from the Krasno pack on Mt. Velebit in cooperation with Northern Velebit National Park and Velebit Nature Park. On 31 August 2009, the young female W24-Ira was captured and fitted with a small VHF collar, which is used for tracking by classical triangulation. Ira is a small pup from the 2009 litter, about 5 months old and weighing 13.5 kg. Capture activities continued, with the objective of collaring an adult wolf from that pack with a GPS-GSM collar.
