Mila, a female in dispersion

The female W9-Mila was the fifth wolf to be collared for telemetric monitoring, in September 2004 in the Gorski Kotar region. The first results of monitoring Mila indicated that she was a member of the Platak pack, that was later renamed Suho. Later it was determined that Mila, in that period of her life, was not a member of any pack, but instead was alone and searching for a partner and territory. From the time she was collared until the end of 2004, Mila was recorded to move within a territory of 940 km², which is eight times larger than the known wolf territories in Croatia. She entered into and passed through the territories of several packs, facing the danger that she would be discovered and killed by those wolves.
