Wolf Management Plan in Croatia 2005

At the final workshop “Drafting the Wolf Management Plan in Croatia”, held in June 2004 in Baška Oštarija, workshop participants agreed on the Draft of the Wolf Management Plan in Croatia. The Wolf Management Plan in Croatia is the first document created in such a way that the representatives of all interest groups were directly and equally included in the drafting process. This was also the first time that the competent state administration body gave the mandate for drafting such a plan to all of those affected by the wolf. To recall, a total of six workshops were held as part of the project since early 2003, and another three were held prior to the start of the project. The representatives of all interest groups participated in the workshops. The Draft Plan was confirmed by the Committee for the monitoring of large carnivore populations, and on 7 December 2004, the document was officially adopted by the Ministry of Culture.

This document compiled all the existing data on the wolf population, including the sociological component. Its operative section defined a series of activities to be taken to conserve the wolf in Croatia, in the most harmonious possible cohabitation with man.
