Wolf mortality in the period 2012 to 2013

In the period from 2012 to 2013, 59 wolves were recorded as perished. The largest number of these was due to legal culling with 36 individuals (21 in 2012 and 15 in 2013). Roads continued to have a prominent impact on the population, with 16 cases of wolf deaths due to roads in this two-year period. Other factors were less significant, though not negligible, with the following recorded: 5 cases of poaching, and one case each of disease and in battle with Tornjak shepherd dogs.
