On 31 October 2010, a wolf was rescued after falling into a well 4 m near the village of Pađene, near Knin. The young male, 8 months old and weighing 26 kg, was named W27-Šaki. After being rescued from the well by the staff of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb, the wolf was given intravenous fluids for dehydration and antibiotics. He was also fitted with a GPS-GSM collar for telemetric monitoring. Unfortunately, the same wolf was killed by a car on a local road just 10 days later.
