A Wolf Fallen Victim to a Car

Pervan seloOn Friday evening, 6 October, a wolf fell victim to collision with a car on a local road past the Pervan village near Perušić. The accident was communicated to the Gospić Police Station and the regional office of the State Institute for Nature Protection whose staff immediately visited the spot, conducted investigation and made a report. The victim was a 3-4 years old male wolf weighing some 35 kg. In the collision with the car it suffered severe internal injuries and died on the adjacent meadow some moments later. The car driver drove at a proper speed and was not drunk. Given the fact that a bear has been killed at the same spot only recently, it was agreed to have a traffic sign placed pointing to the presence of the "game" on the road and to try to reduce the maximum permissible speed on this part of the road. The wolf carcass was transported to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zagreb to be dissected and further analysed.
