On Tuesday,
17 June, a workshop on "Preparation of the Plan of Wolf Management in Croatia"
was held in which more than 40 representatives of all interest groups took place,
including the representatives from Slovenia. The workshop was conducted by Prof.
Dr. Alistair Bath and Aleksandra Majiæ, doctor of veterinary medicine. The data
presented related to legislation, roads, the state of population and the wolf
conservation regime in Slovenia. Three wolf conservation models were proposed:
a total protection (the present state), protection with the possibility of intervention
and the option for the wolf to become a hunted animal. The option for the wolf
to become a hunted animal was excluded by consensus. It was agreed that the
decision on one of the remaining two options will be taken at the following
workshop.
