Within the
framework of the project regional offices for the areas of Lika, Gorski kotar
and Dalmatia were founded. The purpose of founding these offices was to bring
local communities closer to those who make protection-related decisions and
to encourage active involvement of the local community in all activities related
to the wolf. The offices are managed by regional co-ordinators responsible for
carrying out project activities at the local level. The office for the area
of Lika and Gorski kotar operates in Gospić and is managed by Dragan Šarić.
The office for the area of Dalmatia operates in Šibenik and is managed by Nikica
Skroza. Regional co-ordinators maintain close contacts with representatives
of cattle-breeders, hunters, non-governmental organizations, local government
and self-government, etc. So far twelve meetings with cattle-breeders and hunters
have been held and project materials sent to municipalities and towns located
in the wolf spread area. The offices can provide all necessary information regarding
wolf conservation issues and especially cattle protection measures to be taken.
