Presentation of electric fences and lectures about tornjak* dogs for donation beneficiaries

After the cattle-breeders from the regions of Gorski kotar, Lika and Dalmatia had been invited to submit requests for electric fences and tornjak dogs, which will be donated within the framework of the project, a total of 20 users of electric fences and 60 users of tornjak dogs were selected.
For the donation beneficiaries from the area of Lika and Dalmatia model presentations of putting up and using electric fences and lectures about the use of tornjak dogs were held.
Donation beneficiaries from the area of Gorski kotar are scheduled to meet in November 2003.

The presentation of electric fences for the users from Lika took place in Oteša (not far from Smiljani) at the Petar Baričević's place, one of the donation beneficiaries, on 15 October. The presentation was held by M. Devčić as a representative of the supplier of electric fences donated ("Gumex-eco").

At that occasion all details regarding the preparation and mounting of fences, the fence handling and instructions for cattle treatment within the fence were clarified. A demonstration fence was mounted and its functioning demonstrated.
 
The lecture about tornjak dogs was given by Š. Horvath in the premises of the Gospić Regional Office. Besides the cattle-breeders who received the donation and project associates the lecture was also attended by the representatives of the local kennel club.
 
The cattle-breeders were informed about all details in relation to time limits and methods of donating tornjak dogs and given explanations of the method of work and keeping the dogs donated, nourishment and behaviour towards dogs, as well as the rights and obligations of cattle-breeders as donation beneficiaries.

The presentation and lecture for the beneficiaries from Dalmatia were held in Benkovac on 16 October 2003.

The presentation of the electric fence took place with the assistance of the "Rašeljka" Cooperative Farm from Benkovac, which is also one of the donation beneficiaries.

The lecture about tornjak dogs was given in the premises of the Bekovac Fire-station, ensured with the support of A. Grgas, the MEPPP (Ministry of Environmental Protection and Physical Planning) expert for assessment of damaged caused to protected animal species.
